ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Patient Feeding Preparation Assistant is responsible for preparing and maintaining prescribed feeds for patients, including PEG tube, Ryles tube, and oral diet preparations, as advised by the treating doctor or dietician. The role requires maintaining strict hygiene standards and ensuring timely preparation and delivery of patient feeds.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare patient feeds as per the diet chart and medical instructions.
- Prepare blenderized diets and tube feeds for PEG tube and Ryles tube patients.
- Ensure accurate measurement of feed ingredients and quantities.
- Maintain proper hygiene and food safety standards during feed preparation.
- Sterilize and clean all utensils, mixers, feeding containers, and preparation areas before and after use.
- Label and store prepared feeds appropriately, wherever applicable.
- Coordinate with nursing staff regarding feeding schedules and dietary modifications.
- Ensure timely preparation and availability of feeds for all patients.
- Maintain records of feed preparation and consumption, if required.
- Monitor the stock of dietary items and inform the concerned department for replenishment.
- Follow infection control practices and hospital protocols at all times.
- Dispose of food waste and maintain cleanliness of the feeding preparation area.
- Assist in other dietary and patient care support activities as assigned by the hospital administration.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 10th or 12th pass.
- Certification or prior experience in food preparation or hospital dietary services will be preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital dietary services, patient feeding preparation, or a similar role will be preferred.REQUIRED SKILLS
- Basic knowledge of patient nutrition and tube feeding procedures.
- Ability to follow diet charts and feeding instructions accurately.
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety practices.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.
- Effective communication and coordination with nursing and administrative staff.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and infection control standards.
